Edward Burne Jones(エドワード バーン ジョーンズ)
エドワード・バーン＝ジョーンズ（1833-1898）は、イギリスのデザイナーであり、ヴィクトリア朝時代の物語画家でした。彼は、ラファエル前派のスタイルと主題に関連しており、ウィリアム・モリスとの親密な協力関係を通じて、アーツ・アンド・クラフツ運動に大きく貢献しました。彼の作品は、神話、伝説、宗教的なテーマを、豊かな色彩と緻密な描写で表現し、観る者を夢幻的な世界へと誘います。
エドワード・バーン＝ジョーンズ 経歴
- 1833年8月28日、イギリスのバーミンガムに生まれる
- オックスフォード大学で神学を学ぶが、画家を志し、大学を中退
- 1856年、ダンテ・ゲイブリエル・ロセッティに師事
- 1861年、ウィリアム・モリスらと共同でモリス・マーシャル・フォークナー商会を設立
- 1880年代、ステンドグラスやタペストリーなどのデザインも手がける
- 1894年、準男爵の称号を受ける
- 1898年6月17日、ロンドンで死去（享年64歳）
