Abraham Mignon (1640-1679) was a painter active during the Dutch Golden Age, who specialized in still-life paintings of fruit, flowers, and birds. His works, with their detailed depiction, delicate use of color, and skillful use of light and shadow, opened up new horizons in the world of still-life painting.

Abraham Minyoung Biography

  • Born on November 2, 1640 in Frankfurt, Germany.
  • He showed an interest in painting from an early age and studied painting under Jacob Marel.
  • In 1660 he moved to Utrecht and worked in the workshop of Jan Davidszoon de Heem.
  • In 1675, he moved to Amsterdam and became a successful painter.
  • He died in Utrecht on March 27, 1679 (aged 38).

Mignon is one of the leading still-life painters of the Dutch Golden Age, and his works are held by collectors and museums throughout Europe. He established his own unique aesthetic sense and technique in the still-life genre , and had a great influence on later generations of painters.
