Anders Ekman (1833-1855) was a prominent Finnish painter known primarily for his oil paintings , sketches and drawings depicting portraits, village scenes and religious iconography.

Anders Ekman Biography

Born on March 30, 1833 in Vyborg, Finland (now Vyborg, Russia). In 1850, he studied under his uncle, the painter Robert Wilhelm Ekman. In 1852, he entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki. In 1853, he received a scholarship to study at the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts. He died on December 1, 1855 in Düsseldorf (aged 22).
