Georg Dionysius Ehret (1708-1770) was a German botanist and entomologist, and is known as one of the most influential botanical artists of all time. His works combine botanical accuracy with artistic beauty, and are loved by many botanists and horticulturists.

• Born on January 30, 1708 in Heidelberg, Germany.
• While working as a gardener's apprentice, he honed his botanical illustration skills.

• In the 1750s, he produced botanical illustrations at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, England.
