Simberg's style and achievements
Simberg's works are characterized by a dreamlike and fantastical worldview and symbolic expression. He produced many works that question the deep psychology of human beings and the meaning of existence by contrasting opposing concepts such as life and death, angels and demons, and nature and humans .
His masterpiece, "The Wounded Angel," depicts an angel with broken wings being carried by a group of boys, and its melancholy atmosphere and symbolic expression deeply move viewers. In "The Grim Reaper's Garden , " he depicts the Grim Reaper quietly tending the garden, expressing the fear of death as well as its tranquil beauty.
Simberg is a representative Finnish Symbolist painter, and his works are held in many museums, including the Finnish National Gallery. His works, with their unique poetry and symbolism, pose profound questions to us today.
