George Stubbs
George Stubbs (1724-1806) was an English painter and anatomist. He is highly regarded for his paintings of animals, especially horses, and is known for his realistic and accurate depictions and his ability to capture the grace and strength of animals. - Born August 25, 1724 in Liverpool, England
- In the 1740s, he studied anatomy and produced anatomical drawings of animals.
- In the 1750s, he stayed in Italy and studied classical painting.
- He returned to England in the late 1750s and specialized in painting horses.
- In 1766, he published "Anatomy of the Horse"
- Died in London on July 10, 1806 (aged 81)
