Winslow Homer
Winslow Homer was one of the most important 19th century American landscape painters, whose works vividly portrayed the natural scenery and life of the American people.
Winslow Homer Biography
- Born February 24, 1836 in Boston
- He began to study painting in earnest around 1857.
- He began his career as a printmaker in 1859.
- From 1861, he walked the battlefields of the Civil War and became active as a war painter.
- In the 1870s, he produced many masterpieces with seaside scenes as the theme.
- Died September 29, 1910, at age 74, in Plotts Neck.

- Early Morning in the Antipodal Sea (1892)
- High Tide at Herrog Beach (1898)
Homer's works powerfully depict the natural scenery and people's lives on the East Coast of the United States. Seaside scenes in particular make up many of his masterpieces.
