Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898) was a British designer and Victorian narrative painter. He was associated with the style and subject matter of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, and made a major contribution to the Arts and Crafts movement through his close collaboration with William Morris . His work depicts myth, legend and religious themes with rich colour and detailed detail, transporting the viewer to a dreamlike world.

  • He studied theology at Oxford University, but dropped out to become a painter.
  • 1856: Studied under Dante Gabriel Rossetti
  • In 1861, he co-founded Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. with William Morris and others.
  • In the 1880s, he also designed stained glass and tapestries.
  • In 1894, he was created a baronet.
  • Died in London on June 17, 1898 (aged 64)
