Sisley's style and achievements
Sisley's style is characterized by delicate brushstrokes, color harmony, and skillful expression of the effects of light. He was particular about "en plein air" painting landscapes under natural light, and he captured the subtle changes in light and color on the canvas. Many of his works are serene and poetic landscapes, bringing peace and tranquility to the viewer.
Among the Impressionist group , Sisley was the painter who most consistently painted landscapes, and his works are highly regarded as embodying the ideals of Impressionism. His works are filled with a unique delicacy and poetry that is different from those of Monet and Renoir .
Although Sisley was not well off financially during his lifetime, after his death his work was reevaluated and he became recognized as one of the leading Impressionist painters. His work continues to have a major influence on contemporary landscape painting.
