Vilhelm Marstrand is one of Denmark's leading painters and illustrators of the 19th century. He worked in a wide range of genres, including historical paintings, genre paintings, and portraits, and is particularly known for his works depicting Danish history and culture. Wilhelm Marstrand Biography

Born December 24, 1810 in Copenhagen, Denmark
In 1826, he entered the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
In the 1830s, he studied Renaissance art in Italy.
In the 1840s he returned to Denmark and produced historical and genre paintings.
From the 1850s onwards, he also worked as a portrait painter.
Died March 25, 1873, Copenhagen, Denmark (aged 62)
