e-rara is a digital library that aims to provide open access to rare Swiss historical books and prints. It digitizes valuable materials held by Swiss libraries and makes them available to everyone free of charge via the Internet.

History of e-rara

• March 2010: Open to the public
• The goal is to release more than 10,000 works by the end of 2011.
• 2020: Complete platform redesign and technical improvements
• Current status: Numerous valuable documents held by Swiss libraries are being digitized and made available to the public
