Born June 13, 1865 in Schneeberg, Germany 1881-1884: Studied mold casting at an ironworks 1890-1896: Studied sculpture at the Royal Academy of Arts and Crafts in Berlin From 1898, he taught at the Berlin University of Arts and Crafts while also photographing the sculptural beauty of plants In 1928, he published Urformen der Kunst (Urformen der Kunst), which gained him international acclaim Died December 9, 1932 in Berlin (aged 67)
