Aert Schouman (1710-1792) was a Dutch painter known for his beautiful paintings of birds, as well as still lifes, portraits and history paintings. He was a man of many talents, who was also a talented glass engraver, wallpaper painter, printmaker, collector and art dealer.

Born on March 4, 1710 in Dordrecht, Netherlands.
He worked as a painter, glass sculptor, wallpaper artist, printmaker, collector and art dealer.
Between 1735 and 1785 he was one of the leading artists in the province of Zeeland.
He died in The Hague on July 5, 1792 (aged 82).

Sukhoman's style and achievements

Sukhoman's work is characterized by realistic, detailed depictions and a delicate sense of color. He vividly portrays animals, especially birds, accurately capturing their characteristics and ecology . In still lifes and portraits, he also skillfully depicts the texture of the subject and the effects of light, creating a deep sense of depth and a tranquil atmosphere.

Suchoman was not only a painter, but also a glass sculptor, wallpaper artist and printmaker, and demonstrated his wide-ranging talents. He had a huge influence on the 18th century Dutch art scene, and his works are still held in many museums and private collections today.
