Vilhelm Lundström is one of the most representative Danish painters of the 20th century. Although influenced by Cubism , he established his own unique, tranquil style of painting. His works are characterized by their attempt to capture the essence of their subjects , depicting landscapes, still lifes, and people with simplified forms and subdued colors .

  • Born May 26, 1893 in Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1910 to 1915
  • In the 1920s, he stayed in Paris and was influenced by Cubism.
  • In the 1930s, he established his own unique, tranquil style of painting.
  • Growing international acclaim since the 1950s
  • Died on May 5, 1969 in Copenhagen, Denmark (aged 75)

Lundström's style and achievements

Lundström's works are characterized by simplified forms, restrained colors, and a tranquil atmosphere. He carefully observed his subjects and created his paintings with an attitude of trying to capture their essence. At first glance , his works give a quiet and cold impression, but upon closer inspection, one can sense his deep insight and affection for the subject.

Lundström was influenced by Cubism, but he established his own style of painting. He adopted the geometric forms of Cubism, but he managed to suppress the colors and create a tranquil atmosphere. His works occupy an important place in Danish art history, and continue to influence contemporary art.

Lundström is internationally acclaimed as one of the most representative Danish painters of the 20th century . His works are held in museums around the world and are loved by many people.
