• Edward Joseph Rowe

  • Born November 11, 1825 in Nottingham, England.
  • From an early age, he was interested in meteorology, astronomy, and ferns.
  • He taught himself botany and was particularly interested in studying ferns and ornamental plants.
  • Between 1856 and 1860 he published Ferns: British and Exotic.
  • He has also written many other books about plants, including "Beautiful Leaved Plants" and "New and Rare Ferns."
  • He died on March 10, 1900 (aged 74).

• Charles Victor Nodin

  • Born August 14, 1815 in Otton, France.
  • He worked as a botanist.
  • He is professor of botany at the Natural History Museum in Paris.
  • He is particularly known for his research on Cucurbitaceae plants.
  • He died in Paris on March 19, 1899 (aged 83).
