Raiel Johan Antonie Storck (1896-1945) was a Javanese-born Dutch painter, sculptor, graphic artist, inventor and batik artist. He studied at the Haarlem School of Arts and Crafts under inspiring teachers such as Chris Leboe and Samuel Jesrun de Mesquita.
Rayel Storck Biography
Born on July 29, 1896 in Surabaya, Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia). Studied at the Haarlem School of Arts and Crafts from 1913 to 1917. In the 1920s, he began working as a painter, sculptor, and graphic artist. He also worked on batik art and shadow puppetry. During World War II, he participated in the resistance movement. He died on March 8, 1945 (aged 48) in the Dachau concentration camp.

Stork is an artist who contributed greatly to cultural exchange between the Netherlands and Indonesia, and his work occupies an important place in the art history of both countries. Although he participated in the resistance movement during World War II and lost his life in it, his art continues to inspire people today , with its desire for peace and freedom .
