George Edwards
George Edwards (1694-1773) was a keen English ornithologist and artist. He travelled to Norway and France to study birds, producing detailed and accurate watercolors of birds and other animals. He learned etching from Mark Catesby, which led to the publication of The Natural History of Rare Birds.

- Born April 3, 1694 in Stratford, Essex, England
- From an early age, he was interested in the natural world, especially birds.
- While studying natural history, he studied painting and became an active bird illustrator.
- In 1733, he published the first volume of The Natural History of Rare Birds.
- Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of London in 1743
- Died in London on July 23, 1773 (aged 79)
