John Constable
John Constable (1776-1837) was a British landscape painter and one of the great masters of Romanticism. Born in Suffolk, he was the son of a wealthy miller and merchant. He was initially expected to take over his father's business, but after meeting the famous art lover Sir George Beaumont, he decided to pursue a career in art. When he entered the Royal Academy in London, history painting was the mainstream, but Constable drew the English countryside from his own perspective, and was highly praised for his works that captured its natural beauty and changing light.

- He began to paint landscapes in earnest in the 1810s.
- In the 1820s, he produced large landscape paintings known as "six-foot works" and received high praise at the Salon de Paris.
- In 1829 he was elected a member of the Royal Academy.
- Died in London on March 31, 1837 (aged 60)

Constable's style and achievements
Constable's style is characterized by realistic and poetic landscapes that sensitively capture the changes in natural light and atmosphere . He loved the rural landscapes of his hometown, Suffolk, and expressed their beauty in full detail on canvas. His works are not simply reproductions of landscapes, but are the product of his deep love and observation of nature, as well as his outstanding technique for capturing the changing light and weather.
His representative work, "Hay Cart," depicts a peaceful rural landscape, and its natural beauty and realistic depiction have captivated many people. In the "Cloud Studies" series, he meticulously recorded the expressions of the sky, demonstrating his deep interest in natural phenomena.
Although Constable was highly regarded in Britain during his lifetime, he did not receive international acclaim. However, after his death, his work had a major influence on French Impressionist painters, and he came to be reevaluated as a painter who opened up new possibilities for landscape painting .
