Bonnard's style and achievements
Bonnard's works are characterized by vivid colors, soft light, and intimate scenes of everyday life. He painted interiors, gardens, and the landscapes of the south of France with a warm gaze. At first glance , his works appear to be ordinary scenes of everyday life, but the subtle changes in light and color, and the gentle flow of time, give the viewer a sense of peace and happiness.
As a Nabi painter , Bonnard pursued decorativeness and symbolism in painting. He was also strongly influenced by Japanese art, and produced works using flat compositions and bold colors. His works established a unique style that combined the expression of light and color of Impressionism with the symbolic elements of Post-Impressionism .
Bonnard was not necessarily highly acclaimed during his lifetime, but after his death, his poetic works were reevaluated and he came to be recognized as one of the leading painters of the 20th century. His works are precious and allow us to feel the beauty of everyday life and the peaceful moments of time .
