Frederic Edwin Church was a landscape painter active in the United States in the 19th century. One of the leading figures of the Hudson River School, he is known for his meticulous depictions of the majestic natural scenery of the American continent, depicted on a grand scale. - Born May 4, 1826 in Hartford, Connecticut, USA
