Thomas Cole
Thomas Cole was a landscape painter active in the United States in the 19th century. He is known for his poetic depictions of America's majestic natural scenery, and is considered the founder of the Hudson River School . - Born February 1, 1801, in Bolton, Lancashire, England

- In 1825, he moved to New York, where his paintings of the Hudson River landscape were highly praised by John Trumbull and others, and he gained fame as a landscape painter.
- From 1829 to 1832, he traveled through Europe and was particularly impressed by the landscapes and ancient ruins of Italy.
- In 1836, he produced his masterpiece, the series "The Progress of the Empire," and established his own unique style, combining historical themes with landscape painting.
- In the same year, he established a home in the Catskill Mountains, where he continued to create his works.
