Tiziano Vecellio is a representative painter of the 16th century Italian Venetian School. Tiziano Vecellio Biography

• Born around 1488/1490 in Pieve di Cadore, northern Italy
• As a teenager, he went to Venice and trained in the workshop of Giovanni Bellini.
• Around 1508, together with Giorgione, he worked on the exterior decoration of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi.
• In 1516, after the death of Giovanni Bellini, he was appointed official painter to the Republic of Venice.
• From the 1530s onwards, he produced numerous portraits of royalty and aristocrats, including Holy Roman Emperor Charles V and King Philip II of Spain.
• 1545-1546: Visited Rome and interacted with Michelangelo and others
• Died in Venice on August 27, 1576 (aged between 86 and 88)
