Ernest Lawson (1873-1939) was a Canadian-born American painter known for his landscapes and marine paintings. Born March 22, 1873 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
In 1890, he emigrated to the United States and studied at the Art Students League in New York.
In 1893, he went to France and studied at the Académie Julian.
In the early 1900s, he returned to New York and began working as a painter.
In 1908, he participated in "The Eight" exhibition.
He died on December 18, 1939 in Miami, Florida (aged 66).
