Ernest Lawson (1873-1939) was a Canadian-born American painter known for his landscapes and marine paintings. He was an important member of the American Impressionist movement, and his work is characterized by its delicate use of light and color, as well as its bold brushstrokes. Lawson's landscapes portray the beauty of American cities and nature with a poetic quality.

- Born March 22, 1873 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
- In 1890, he emigrated to the United States and studied at the Art Students League in New York.
- In 1893, he went to France and studied at the Académie Julian.
- In the early 1900s, he returned to New York and began working as a painter.
- In 1908, he participated in "The Eight" exhibition.
- He died on December 18, 1939 in Miami, Florida (aged 66).
