Pieter Bruegel the Elder Biography
- He is said to have been born around 1525/30 in what is now the Netherlands, or near the Belgian city of Breda (there are various theories about his place of birth and year).
- Around 1551, he was registered as a master in the Antwerp painters' guild.
- Around 1552-1553, he traveled to Italy, visiting Rome, Naples, and other places.
- From the late 1550s onwards, he produced numerous sketches for prints.
- In 1563, he moved to Brussels and married Maria Coecke van Aelst.
- He continued his artistic endeavors in Brussels and produced masterpieces such as "The Peasant Wedding Feast" and "Children's Games."
- Died in Brussels on September 9, 1569 (age 40-45)
