The Flower Book
the work
A series of 38 circular watercolor paintings from The Flower Book
These are works created by Sir Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898), a British painter and designer. These symbolic watercolors were inspired by the names of flowers, and express a poetic world with delicate lines and soft colors .
Edward Burne-Jones Biography
Born in Birmingham, England on August 28, 1833. He entered Oxford University in 1853 and met William Morris. In 1856, he dropped out to become a painter. In the 1860s, he was influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and produced works based on myths and legends. From the 1870s onwards, he established his own unique symbolist style. He was knighted in 1894. He died in London on June 17, 1898 (aged 64).

Burne-Jones's style and achievements
Burne-Jones's work is influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites, but is characterized by his own symbolic style. He depicted dreamy and fantastical worlds based on myths, legends, and literature. His works are characterized by delicate lines, soft colors, and decorative elements, and also influenced Art Nouveau.
The series of 38 circular watercolors from The Flower Book is one of his most famous works, depicting symbolic images inspired by the names of flowers. These works were published posthumously in 1905, and continue to fascinate many people today with their beauty and poetry.
Burne-Jones is one of the most important painters of the 19th century in Britain, and while his work is in the tradition of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, he also established his own symbolic world. His work continues to influence contemporary artists and designers.
