Leonetto Cappiello
Leonetto Cappiello was an Italian poster artist and illustrator active from the late 19th century to the early 20th century . While influenced by Art Nouveau, he established his own style incorporating humorous and satirical elements. Characterized by bold compositions, vivid colors, and anthropomorphized products and characters, he is known as one of the pioneers who elevated the artistic quality of advertising posters.
Leonetto Cappiello Biography
- Born April 6, 1875 in Livorno, Italy
- In the 1890s, while studying law in Florence, he contributed illustrations to satirical magazines.
- In 1898, he moved to Paris and began working as an illustrator.
- In the early 1900s, he emerged as a poster artist.
- In 1905, he became famous for his poster for the chocolate company Chocolat Crush.
- Since then, he has worked on advertising posters for many companies.
- Died on February 2, 1942 in Cannes, France (aged 66)
