Utagawa Toyokuni Biography

• Born in 1769 in Edo (present-day Tokyo)
• In 1786, he became a disciple of Utagawa Toyoharu.
• In the 1790s, he gained popularity for his portrayals of actors.
• In the 1800s, he also began painting portraits of beautiful women and landscapes.
• Died in 1825 (aged 56)
