Frederic Edwin Church Biography

• Born May 4, 1826 in Hartford, Connecticut, USA
• From 1844 to 1846, he studied under Thomas Cole, the founder of the Hudson River School, learning the basics of landscape painting.
• In 1848, he became a full member of the National Academy of Design.
• From the 1850s onwards, he travelled to North America, South America, the Middle East and other regions, producing works based on the landscapes of these places.
• In the 1860s, he established his reputation as a landscape painter, producing some of his best-known works, including "Niagara Falls" and "Heart of the Andes."
• After the 1870s, he built a mansion called "Olana" in Hudson, New York, where he continued to create works until his later years.
