Alfred William Finch
Alfred William Finch (1854-1930) was a Neo-Impressionist artist born in Brussels, Belgium to English parents. His work utilized a color palette and pointillist technique in common with other key figures in the Neo-Impressionist movement, including Paul Signac, Camille Pissarro, and Georges Seurat .
Alfred William Finch Biography
- Born November 28, 1854 in Brussels, Belgium
- Studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels
- In 1883, he became a founding member of the Belgian avant-garde artist group "Les XX."
- In 1897, he became artistic director of the Finnish porcelain factory "Iris".
- Died April 28, 1930, Helsinki, Finland (aged 75)

Finch's style and achievements
Finch's work is characterized by the harmony of pointillism and vivid colors. He scientifically analyzed the interaction of light and color, and tried to reproduce light on canvas by pointillism. His landscapes are impressive for the delicate vibration of colors and the gentle light effects produced by pointillism.
Finch was a central member of the Belgian avant-garde art movement "Les XX," whose groundbreaking works had a major impact on the art world of the time. He also contributed to the development of Finnish craft design as artistic director of the Finnish ceramics factory "Iris."
Finch is a leading Neo-Impressionist painter whose works are held in museums around the world , including Belgium and Finland . His work occupies an important place in art history for its fusion of science and art, and its exploration of light and color.
