The Art of Kazimir Malevich

A major feature of Malevich's art is his pursuit of the possibilities of asymmetrical painting through pure geometric forms and colors . He criticized the fact that painting up until that point had been restricted to the reproduction of the real world and the depiction of a story, and sought to make painting an autonomous entity composed only of purely formal elements. His artistic philosophy was called " Suprematism " (absolutism, supremacy), and its ultimate form was shown in "Black Square," published in 1915. This work, which depicts only a black square on a white background, is considered a milestone in abstract painting , eliminating all objectivity and meaning in painting. Malevich continued to further develop the theory of Suprematism through works such as "White on White."

The influence of Kazimir Malevich and his later recognition

Malevich's innovative art had a decisive impact on the development of 20th century art, especially abstract painting . His Suprematism had a major impact on subsequent abstract art movements such as Russian Constructivism and De Stijl. His pursuit of ultimate abstraction in painting is also thought to have influenced later contemporary art such as Minimal Art. Today, Malevich is highly regarded around the world as one of the leading artists of 20th century art. Keywords such as " Suprematism ," " abstract painting ," " asymmetric painting ," " black square ," and " absolutism " are important elements in understanding Malevich's art. His works are housed in museums around the world and continue to fascinate many people.
