August Macke
August Macke (1887-1914) is one of the leading German Expressionist painters and was a central member of the famous German Expressionist group "Der Blaue Reiter" (The Blue Rider) along with Wassily Kandinsky. He is known for his colorful landscapes and portraits, as well as works incorporating abstract elements. Macke's works are characterized by bold colors, simplified forms, and rhythmic compositions.

- Born January 3, 1887 in Meschede, Germany.
- From 1904 to 1906 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf.
- In 1907, he moved to Paris and was influenced by Impressionism and Fauvism.
- In 1910, he met Wassily Kandinsky and joined the Blue Rider group.
- In 1912, he took part in the "Blue Rider" exhibition.
- He was killed in action during World War I on September 26, 1914 (aged 27).
