Born December 12, 1863 in Røten, southeastern Norway
In 1879 he entered the School of Arts and Crafts in Christiania (now Oslo).
In 1885, he went to Paris to study and was influenced by the Impressionists.
In 1892 he created his masterpiece, "The Scream."
Died January 23, 1944, in Ekli, near Oslo (aged 80)
