Albert Edelfelt
Artist
Albert Edelfelt (1854-1905) is one of Finland's most famous painters. He showed an interest in painting and drawing from an early age and studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium. He then moved to Paris, where he became a prominent figure in the Parisian art world.
Albert Edelfelt Biography
Born on July 21, 1854 in Porvoo in southern Finland. Showed an interest in painting and drawing from an early age. Entered the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in 1873. Moved to Paris in the late 1870s and exhibited at the Salon. In the 1880s, produced works depicting Finnish landscapes and history. Died on August 18, 1905 in Heiko, Finland (aged 51).

Edelfelt's style and work
Edelfelt painted a wide range of genres , including historical paintings, portraits, and landscapes, with a style based on realism and naturalism . Her representative work, "The Funeral Procession of Children," depicts a solemn funeral scene in a rural Finnish village, and its sadness and serenity strike a chord with viewers. "Queen Blanche," a historical painting depicting the tragic story of Princess Blanche of Sweden, is highly praised for its dramatic expression.
Edelfelt was one of the pioneers who raised the international profile of Finnish art, and his works were highly praised at the Paris Salon and the World Exposition. He depicted Finnish nature, history, and people's lives from his own unique perspective and sensibility, and left a significant mark on the history of Finnish art.
