  • Worked as a textile designer in the 1830s
  • In 1837 he moved to London and became an assistant to the botanical artist William Jackson Hooker.
  • In 1841 he became the painter for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew .
  • Died in London on January 14, 1877 (aged 59)
